Who is ready for fishing this holiday weekend!? In the shocker of year, I may actually get out on a boat this weekend. I will be joining Team Jackal teammate Ethan and tourney vet Capt Rob heading out tuna fishing on Sunday. A lot of back and forth on whether we make the run south of the vineyard where we know it was hot for the Tunafest, or if we head out to Stellwagen where two reports of fish came in yesterday. Anyone else heading out there?
I did catch a monster 14 inch schoolie off of Plymouth the other night, so I continue to rack up the numbers as I get in shape for the tourney. I've also rigged up my new Quantum Boca 60 which should catch the winning fish this year.
It's time to get some registrations in! We only have a couple in so far, and I know everyone is a last minute entry, but that's a pain in the butt for us when it comes to planning and especially t-shirts. If you want a t-shirt the day of the tourney, need to get your stuff in early. Just email me at [email protected] and I'll send you a form. Only $200 per boat.
We did get word that past entrant Joe Creney will be back in the tourney this year. Great news! A few years back Joe entered with his sweet Scout and took Team Jackal stalwarts Ethan and Ben. In typical Jackal fashion - they only managed to catch one fish all day - and for some reason Ben decided to try to bleed the fish while holding it over the side so he effectively sliced the fish, and then lost it overboard. A failure of multiple shades.
We also heard this past week that Handkerchief lit up - which is great news for the tourney.
Lastly - more to come but welcome new sponsor Fishinghire.com! Great guys out of Boston who fish out of Mashpee who have created a killer site for fishing content and charters. Check it out at www.fishinghire.com or on Facebook here and they will be at the party as well. Welcome to the Headhunt family and buckle up!
And now wish us luck Sunday - if you see tuna prices plummet in the Japanese market over the weekend, you'll know why.
