For some reason, this tournament is already lining up to be one of the most hotly contested. People want to win. People have always wanted to win, but I'm already hearing more rumblings of new entrants, secret strategies, team trades and side bets leading up the 12th Annual Headhunt this July 25th. I'm pumped - but also wish people would just do some backroom deals to agree to let myself and Team Jackal win our own damn tournament for the first time in 12 years.
Either way, it's great to see some of the new chatter - and bring it to the blog. We already know that we will have tourney veterans like Captain Jack, Burnie Sisters (separate - equally ineffective vessels), Corduroy, past champ Jailbreak (back after a year hiatus and sounds like he's coming for blood), past champ Team Powe (see blood from previous message), Charlotte E out of Plymouth (longtime tourney vet) and others. Let's get the registrations in early so we can start to get a count.
Also working on some new t-shirts - remember, only $200 gets you entry into the tourney, 4 t-shirts and some good grub from Land Ho - who do a kick ass job every year. I may even bring an box of old Headhunt shirts. I literally wear one every other day - and my wife made me clean some out last year, I think I literally threw away 50, and still have probably close to 75 left. A lot in good condition, and I think there is even one from the 1st annual buried in there that I may hold onto to sell on eBay to pay for my kids college.
Reports this week have been slower - maybe people have been already scoping out spots and keeping to themselves. I'm not sure who reads myfishingcapecod.com - but it's a great site w/ killer info on where the bite is on the Cape. Tried to get the Ryan (owner
