Let's be clear. O'Brien, Charlotte and Gordie can't win this again. They have dominated with 3 wins in 4 years and it needs to stop. I think that the level of competition this year is as good as it's ever been so a real fish is going to win this baby. At some point, we need a separate division for the pros, but for now the more the merrier. Personally, I like the challenge.
I got a couple emails today from a few other boats who want in including a good charter guy out of Bass River with a sweet rig (www.emmajackcharters.com) so this is definitely shaping up to be a kick ass tourney. He is taking a client out who he said he saw wearing a Headhunt shirt from last year, so we're psyched to have them in the mix.
We are still waiting for a number of entry fees, so get them in asap - either send them to my brother, email us, or drop it off at Sunrise Bait & Tackle. As of now, we're expecting at least 10-15 boats but hope we get some last second entries (like every other year) to get over 20.
My bro is heading out tomorrow to pre-fish, so we'll wait for the reports. He's headed out with Capt. Mayday so hopes aren't too high. I'm taking all of next week off so will try to get out to do some fishing and at least do some smack talking.
We almost had our first dust up when our faithful friend almost jumped ship and came to our team, but with his recent trash talk - we don't want him. I think he will fit in great with the team trailering the boat down from Plymouth - bad chemistry in that locker room. 4 fishermen, 4 cabs home. Speaking of bad chemistry, our dad, who suprisingly caught the 2nd place fish last year, has decided to fish with the 06 champion. There has been some serious free agency movement this offseason which is always good to see.
On the T-shirt front, we need to get more made already so if you know that you want one - let us know so we can get the right sizes made. Just shoot us a email ([email protected]) and tell us how many and sizes. Don't sweat it if it isn't exact, we just need a general idea or our entire extended families will be getting Headhunt shirts for x-mas this year.
Someone brought up the good idea of a captains meeting, but probably too late this year, so plan on it next year. For this year, we will be headed to the Hot Stove in Harwichport friday night so definitely stop by if you want to share some beers and friendly trash talk. Seamus said he's buying.
Be ready.
