I finally had a chance to get out and catch some fish after a long spring.  Captain Seamus is back in town and asked me to help him out with a crew as he was fishing a bridge boat and could use the hand staying at the helm and on the fish at the same as easy as possible.

I finished up the school year on Thursday and Seamus asked me to help out Friday which was a perfect fishing wake-up call for me.

I will not give up too much info on the fishing other than it was very very good.

I do not want Seamus to have to kill me for providing too many details.

Left at 10:00 am on a warm, bright, summer flat calm day.  Hit one spot without going far, dropped in the rigs, and caught lots of 12-25lb bass.

The action was fierce and as the mate I only lost one smaller fish.  It was only the second fish of the day and losing that one made me feel like I was back on the Prowler working with Al Anderson.  Seamus shrugged it off as no big deal and we went on to catch a ton of fish without another miss.  Capt. Al would have crush me for that one miss to the point where it F’ed up the rest of the day for everyone including the anglers.

It has been a long time since I have been a mate and getting back into the groove of catching fish and being out on the water was sweet.

It is now time to get back out on the Jackal and get ready for this tournament!

So here I am in 93-97 degree heat in Austin, wishing I was out on the BossaNova (just sold this week). Glad to hear someone in the family is catching some fish!!
Will be coming up to the Cape in July, but unfortunately you guys planned the Headhunt for the week I'm doing a golfing tournament with my brother in Rome. Will be up the following weekend and going tuna fishing with Josh @ Outermost Harbor.
So can I mate/fish on THE Burke boat if you're out the week of July 19th?? Am having serious striper withdrawal. Will supply some jigs for the trip.
You guys have a great tournament!!!

Mick,

Great to hear from you and sad to hear that BossaNova is gone - she was a great rig and caught a ton of fish. We'll definitely get you out the week of the 19th, let's plan on that - let us know any days that work and I'll skip out of work. Going to miss having you in the tournament - you're still one of headhunt tourney legends (and past champions). Talk to you soon,

Ryan
