Who is getting ready? Who has been pre-fishing? In typical Team Jackal fashion, we are getting prepared. It started with the fact that most tourneys half the team crashes on a couch at my brothers or parents, are too drunk, make a mess (or clog a toilet) say or do something offensive and basically get booted out the door the next day. To avoid this, the team has rented the above RV machine. That's called initiative. Team Jackal is now mobile on land and sea. This baby may be sitting on the beach Friday night, lines out, or parked on the back patio of the Hot Stove. You just don't know.
We also did our annual conference call to discuss tactics and strategies, and who is buying alcohol and tobacco products. The call went over an hour and in typical fashion was a disaster. My wife was actually bored and putting kiddos to bed so she dialed in without telling me, or anyone, and listened to the entire thing. She was not impressed. I don't think everyone on Team Jackal truly understands the mechanics of a conference call and that only one person can talk at once. Either way, we came out with the decision that we still don't know where we are going, or what we are using, but we do know who is buying the fried chicken. Two years ago we bought 4 bags of fried chicken, ate half by 8 am and spilled it on the deck which made the deck a skating rink of chicken grease. Good times.
Side note, but my lovely wife will not be making it this weekend either - high school reunion (Grey Ghosts forever!). Last night she said she may not now go to the reunion, so I assumed she meant she was in for the Headhunt. Her answer - "Are you crazy? I already got out of it, I'm free - it's like asking me to run back into a burning building to save some goldfish". Such love and support from my family.
Don't fear, the team will be pre-fishing today, and tomorrow, so should have the winning numbers dialed in by noon today. If anyone is out either day, let us know and we can meet up and talk shop/fight.
Should be a good tourney, a few stragglers coming in late. Remember, if you didn't get your registration in early, we may not have t-shirts ready at the party - but you will get them. May just take a couple extra days so we're not left with 200 extra shirts like most years (anyone wants one of the tan ones from a few years back I still have about 267 of them).
For tourney day, we will use channel 69 again for tourney chatter. Remember, lines in at 4 am and out at 2 pm – you have until 3:30 to get your fish to Land Ho. 3:31 and you’re out. Let us know if you have any questions, and hope to see folks at the Hot Stove tomorrow night - should be there 6:30 - 9 or so.
Good luck!
