fishing through my coffee table on vacation, yes I did catch a few - all fishing, all the time
5th Annual tourney time! Can you believe it? The tourney date has been announced for July 26th, and should be bigger and better than last year. If you remember, my prediction last year was that our boat, the legendary Wild Goose, would take the prize, with Mike O’Brien and crew coming in second, but those roles were switched. Billy Burke caught the biggest fish in tourney history at around 7 that morning, and then O’Brien and his gang beat us by a pound with a fish they caught near the end of the day – winning with a 29.5 pounder. Who knows how much weight we lost over the course of the day, but we also only had a half day since Sean’s wife gave birth 6 weeks early to a baby boy and we had to race off the rips and straight to Cape Cod General, eel slime, blood and all.
It ended up being a great weekend with Braden Hunter Burke being born – and named in honor of the Headhunt tourney. This year, with Braden on board, the Burke family will be looking for the title.
It may be early, but the trash talking has already begun, with a crew from Plymouth already talking big, a landscape legend entering his new rig, and a few jamokes from Boston hoping to charter their way into history. Who knows, Seamus may actually place this year too – but let’s not get crazy.
The stakes will be higher, and looks like we have Sunset Bait & Tackle back on board for the weigh in, and the 400 Club as the post party hotspot again. If you remember last year, we had about 75 people at the party, and hope to tear the roof off this year while we drink natty lights from the skull of the winning 50 lber.
Start spreading the word, and if anyone needs a rig to jump on, just shoot us an email and we may be able to find you one. There are also sponsorship opportunities available this year, so just email us at [email protected]. If nothing else, you may get a scotch soaked response from my brother Ahab.
Remember, BC spring football game – April 26th – see you there.
