Under a month away and we are gathering steam. Emailed with Neal Larsson and Bill Dean at On the Water Magazine and they were generous enough to donate a OTW prize pack which is now second place. Also, the T-shirts are finally in and look great, you can get them for only \$15 and start spreading the love.
We have been out now on the Goose twice and only been slaying bluefish off the southside beaches so it could be a challenging tourney the end of June if the rips at Monomoy haven’t heated up by the 30th. Locally, the tourney is getting a lot of attention so sign up as soon as possible to get involved. There is still some smack talk going down, Seamus crew is dwindling but he is still on top of the list of favorites, and good ol Pete from Sea Joy is rumored to be a hired gun for the highest bidding boat. Pete was an original member of the tourney who actually went out after the first annual tourney was postponed due to a rainout and pulled in a 40 lber – or so his undated picture says. That wound has not healed, but he still has as many trophies as his girl Brenda and the little fat kid I see fishing in Plymouth sometimes – zero.
The other big news is that the beloved Goose is close to being sold, which means the Burke bros could be without a vessel for their beloved tourney, and may have to hijack the Yankee and drag 40 lines of steel across the rips until they snag the winner.
We got a call from a guy in Yarmouth this week who saw a flyer and is now in so the word is spreading and this tourney is positioned to take off. Get involved, tell your friends, and get ready for the 30th, if nothing else, the party at the newly renovated 400 Club should be great – as long as the winner keeps alive the Mick Carrier tradition of the champion opening up the bar with the winnings!!
