Been slacking on the blog, but now that it's July it's time to get this baby cranking for tourney time. Was on the road this week, but also checked on Facebook and couldn't believe what I saw. Tourney veteran and champion trash talker Burnie won a fishing tournament. Yup, you read that right. He actually caught a fairly good sized fish and won a prize. What the hell is this world coming to?

Sounds like there was a pretty cool tournament - for a great cause - last weekend - Rise to Fish Topwater Striper Tourney. Looks like the Burn brothers both fished and had some success. Jason won with this 36' beauty above and I think a little Burn won the jr category as well. Pretty impressive. Congrats fellas and good to see you get it out of your system before the 23rd.

Now we have this other hog above - Team Jackal member (and typical MVP even though the bar is low) nailed this beauty this morning down in Rhody. Still waiting on a few details, but good to see Tria getting back to his usual self after a somewhat slow start for him.

I'll be in Plymouth all weekend celebrating America, and hope to get out at some point. Reports have been stellar, even in close. Capt Marcus had some success this am out at Bug light where apparently it has been lights out (get it?).

For anyone else, let us know how you do this glorious weekend and expect the blog action to heat up like the fishing.

Should be a great weekend and hope everyone gets out on the water! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

Just a correction. My fish was ruled to be a 37". My nephew Jake was the under 17 champ with a 37 as well. Our captain was a former headhunt champ. It wasnt a miracle, it was inevitable. 3 champs and a petey coming to a theatre near you!

Funny I have never seen him weight a fish.... Seriously have you ever caught one during the headhunt tourney ? It is a serious question !

Based on the evidence developed in connection with the investigation of the winning 37" striped bass, I have concluded that it is more probable than not that the Sport Bag and his co-bags participated in violations of the rules and were involved in a deliberate attempt to claim that a 10" menhaden with stripes drawn on it and a doctored tape measure represented a 37" striped bass. This is extremely disappointing, however, it is still more admirable than hiring a charter.

Holy shit, Petey comes out like e-mails from a Clinton! Have you ever weighed in a fish you didnt pay someone else to catch for you? Serious question. Haha

Anyone who uses a charter captain is a land lubber. The irish mackeral may be small in stature but hes big on brains.
