Spring is in the air - or more like spring is coming on strong like an immortal hunter letting the weather fuel his/her loins like a warrior psyched as much about the anticipation as much he/she is “fired up” about the actual competition.
Wow! I feel like an over eager fisherman jacked up on steroids with no place turn but the open waters.
I am riled up and even sort of “ahhhhhhhhh” about this season as last year we (team wild goose) lost by a @#$% hair and I missed the second half of the tide and the day due to my beautiful boy Braden being born game day last year six and a half weeks earlier than expected.
His middle name is Hunter and we will be ready to join the team soon but he may need to sit out this year.
My brother and I are once again in the process of designing T-shirts, passing out flyers and contacting local and fishing related companies for sponsorship.
It is interesting how my brother and I with help from family and friends have been able to keep this event rolling? Even though my brother and I are tight and are very good friends he drives me crazy at times when we work together on stuff like this as he has the tendency to sometimes act like a jerk stick. He is the big city guy who enjoys interacting with all sorts of people which is great, but I am the small down family guy these days who likes to lay low and do my own thing.
With that said we will keep on plugging away through the ups and downs as we always do and we could not do something like this in this area with out each other so let’s get this blog rolling for crap’s sake!! We need to give little bro Ryan what he wants which is interaction, shit talking, and the promotion of the Headhunt “vibe”!!!!!!!!!!
In general, the locals out here in Harwich are getting psyched about the arrival of stripers, nice weather, and the idea of having even more fun than last year with Harwich Headhunt. Conversation and competitive jargon keeps popping up around town mostly at the “Hot Stove” and “400 club West” which is very cool. People (boaters especially) are pretty bummed about the cost of fuel and what the summer prices look to be which is another reason I know we look even more forward to this years event. Getting out on the water to fish is always nice, but not going to be as easy this year so getting out to try and win this tourney keeps me staying positive about the upcoming fishing season without dwelling on the fuel cost issue.
Schoolies have been reported as being in the area, yet not in any big numbers though they will be arriving in full soon as our boys in Westport Mass are catching them in large numbers and have been for two weeks. Way to go Ben and Chris!!!!
Sunrise bait and tackle is again eager to get involved involved in the tourney so feel free to sign up at their shop.
We are also going to be locking up the opportunity to get your companies name on the the T-shirts so we can print them sooner than later. It is a $100 for a name on the shirt and some exposure on the website. Contact soon if you have any interest in the idea of being on this year’s T-shirt as many other local businesses are.
So, let’s keep in touch on the fishing reports and the tournament anticipation!!
See ya!!
