Thanks to everyone involved in the 7th annual Harwich Headhunt!!!
It has taken me a day to post a post tourney blog as it took me a few hours to hold my home fort together, decompress, get my computer back online and reflect a bit on the event.
First off, it seemed like most people had a great time and the competition was very fierce and very close.
The morning started out a bit bouncy and the fog was rough for us all day as was the fishing for that matter. We were able to land a 26.4 pounder which kept us near the top on the board but the numbers were poor for us and many of the areas we usually fish were bare which was frustrating.
Some of the teams seemed to struggle a bit like us and others tore it up which is what this competition is all about.
The after party was a blast as we had a chance to hang out with old tourney friends and meet some new great people who we know will be back again. It was a close tourney, and we’ll post the official results and pictures later, but Team Arlie Ex – with now 4 time champion Mike O’Brien – took the prize by 1 ounce! A 29.8 lber barely beat out Team Tuna Eclipse and Team Shanti who both weighed in 29 lbers as well. Unreal how close it was, and the Arlie Ex continues to be a dynasty which gives us all someone to focus on taking down next year.
I want to thank everyone again for being so cool with everything.
From those who were in the event for the first time (like the Cape Cod Sport Bags) to those who have been with us since day one were very complimentary and thankful to us for the event which helps out a lot. Many of you also have all sorts of ideas of how to evolve the tournament which is great. It is good to know that people are pumped up about the striper tournament and it is sweet to see people so into the event.
Now that it is over I/we will have to get back to actually fishing more, printing up some more t-shirts for those who want them, and enjoying the remainder of the summer as best that we can.
Keep the headhunt vibe alive by sending over pictures, fishing reports, and blogs so we can post them up.
Seriously keep us posted with reports and photos from future trips as I always hope that we can turn the site into more of ongoing fishing report blog.
If you have a good or even bad day of fishing let us know so we can help keep each other up to date with catch reports.
Thanks again and a special thanks to all of our sponsors! We appreciate all the donated prizes, and a big thank you to Jake Rooney’s and the crew there for all the food and great service! We’ll post a few more blogs to wind things down and keep any post tourney thoughts coming our way! I’m posting one nice note we received from tourney vet and weigh in team member Benny Allen – appreciate the thoughts Benoit.

“Well, the 2010 Headhunt is now complete.
The 7th Headhunt installment is officially in the record books.
Headhunt #7 will be remembered by great fishing (Team Magalodon being the exception), even better people (minus Tria) and a relaxing after party (although a wee bit sweaty).
In a word, this year’s Headhunt was awesome.
I’m fairly certain that I speak for every one of this year’s participants when I extend a huge “THANK YOU” to the entire Burke family.
Here’s to you Jean, Bill, Kate, Ryan, Sawyer, Lisa, Sean, Callee and Braden.
Nicely done once again.”
